🚨 The fake admin / accidental report scam
'I accidentally reported you, DM this admin to cancel it' — one of the most effective account-taking scripts on Discord.
How the scam works
- A stranger claims they accidentally reported you and that Discord will ban your account.
- A second account posing as a 'Discord admin' or 'moderator' joins to 'help you cancel' the report.
- The fake admin asks you to 'verify your identity' — password, codes, or a login link.
- Everything they say is scripted theatre: Discord never works this way.
Red flags
- Anyone claiming you were reported and must act now
- A 'Discord admin' contacting you in DMs — real staff never do this
- Requests for passwords, backup codes or login links
- Friend-of-a-friend introductions that rush you into trusting them
What to do
- Block both accounts and report them inside Discord.
- Remember: reports are handled by Discord's own systems, never through DMs.
- If you shared credentials, change your password and sign out of all sessions immediately.
